Heat Exhaustion and Heat Strokes among Koalas
It is normal among Koalas to suffer from Heat Exhaustion and Heat Strokes as well. The climate of Australia is very dry and during the dry seasons, it becomes too hard for the Koalas and many other animals to tolerate the heat and they suffer from the Heat Strokes and also heat exhaustion as well. Since Koalas lack strength, therefore, in such a situation of the Heat Exhaustion Koalas always become vulnerable for the predators such as falcons, Eagles and Hawks. Plus Dingoes also make them a nice meal as the Koalas search for the Water ponds within their adjacent surroundings.
The skin of the Koalas is very dark. During the hot seasons, the dark color absorbs a lot of heat. This heat absorption prompts the Koalas to eat more Eucalyptus leaves in order to fulfill their water requirements. But since they do not take any direct intake of water, therefore, as a result of that their body temperature rise up significantly. Consequently, they suffer from heat exhaustion and heat strokes. Their body temperature rises as well and they suffer from fever as well. All of these conditions are very dangerous in the wild for the Koalas and they could cost them their life as well.
Sometimes, because of the heat exhaustion and Heat strokes, the Koalas also suffer from vomiting as well. Vomiting is one of the common reasons to identify that the Koalas are suffer from heat exhaustion after the body temperatures. However, it may not be necessary that the Koalas’ vomiting can prove out to be the core predictor of its heat exhaustion and heat strokes. Koalas’ Heat strokes may also be possible without vomiting within the Koalas as well.
Koalas’ heart beat increases during the heat strokes and heat exhaustion. In many cases the Koalas also lose their consciousness as well. This also becomes one of the core factors which make Koalas more vulnerable. This may also increase the metabolism rates of the koalas which may not be a healthy symbol at all, as slower metabolism suits best for the koalas.
