Aggressiveness of Female Koalas

Female Koalas rarely show any aggression towards one another and with their young joeys. However, whenever, the young Koala Joey reaches the age of 1 year, it is the time, the female Koalas decide that they should live on their own. Therefore, whenever, the Joey comes near the female Koalas, they show an aggressive behavior towards them and do not let them come closer or near.

The young Koala Joeys try their luck for 5 to 6 times and after that they realize that it is time now that they should find their own new place. Young male Koalas are known to move much further as compared to the female Koalas. Female form territories just near their mothers. The main objective of the aggression of the female Koala is to realize their Joey to live on its own as a solitary mammal, which is the way they have been.

According to many researchers, being aggressive when their baby Koala Joey reaches the age of 1 year is a deliberate attempt of the female Koala mothers. Moreover, they are always successful with it, and the Koalas learn from themselves, how to survive on their own when encountered with the wild.
