Female Koalas are very Selective Regarding their Leaf Selection and Food Consumption.
Female Koalas are very selective and finicky in terms of their eating patterns and this is the key reason that the female Koalas only consume very unique and selective leaves. Male Koalas are also like this but the female Koalas are one level ahead of the male koalas. Moreover, female Koalas always require greater calories and nutritional values, because of their body requirements as well e.g., lactation, caring their young ones etc. But how does it is known that the female Koalas are better selectors of the eucalyptus leaves and the male Koalas come out to be the second best in this regard?

In order to know that the female Koalas are better Eucalyptus leaves selectors as compared to the male koalas, the zoologists carried out different experiments. One experiment specifically confirmed that female Koalas always preferred those leaves that were very high in terms of nitrogen contents. Nitrogen is good for the body and is always helpful in absorption of food. Diets with nitrogen are always considered as healthy. Therefore, this criterion was the key reason most of the times, female koalas were far better eucalyptus leaves selectors as compared to their male counterparts. Male Koalas were also known to sometimes feed on the rotten eucalyptus leaves as well, which was not good for their health at all.
Therefore, since females have to ensure the supply of energy throughout their body especially during the lactating periods, therefore, it was very important for them to eat selective leaves from the Eucalyptus leaves. Moreover, these leaves always carried maximum degree of nitrogen values as well.
